What a great weekend in the Lord. We started Friday night at Shiloh Baptist Church retreat ground. Over 30 of the Lifepoint family were able to attend. Kevin led us in worship and for 3 hours we worshiped and prayed. One of the many scriptures he brought to my mind during this time is found in Acts 13:2 it says (paraphrasing) they were gathered together in one place ministering to the Lord, or worshiping the Lord and the Holy Spirit spoke. What a site people gathered together ministering to the Lord. The thought that we can minister to the Lord through worship boggles my mind. What is man that thou art mindful of us?
Then on Sunday morning during the worship service as I looked around I saw a scene that many would consider a complete lack of respect toward worship. If you define worship by what we have been taught, that is people standing or sitting still and doing nothing but singing. Yes some were singing but many were not, I saw people walking around some were praying with each other at the alters while others were in the back delivering encouraging words or words of wisdom. Some were waving banners and some were lifting hands while others were on there faces before the Lord. About the time I wanted to cry out stop lets pay attention everybody be still. The Lord brought another verse to my mind and it is from 1 Peter 2:9 It says you are a chosen race a royal priesthood. That verse connected to the verse from the previous day about the church ministering to the Lord, and all of a sudden it made sense. Then the Holy Spirit spoke and brought confirmation to what I was seeing He said " I am raising up a congregation of priest who will minister to me and to my people". Then it dawned on me that that is exactly what I was watching a body of priest performing priestly duties before the Lord. The Lord also reassured me that what he is doing is a new thing, or should I say a different thing. It is different from any thing I have ever known. How many of you know God is in the business of tearing down boxes, and shattering old paradigms about the way things are suppose to be. Blessed be our God who makes all things new.
